Lighting For House Plants
House plants are good indoor decors but most of all, they help create a positive atmosphere. The added source for oxygen could give that vibrant and energetic feeling to those who live in the house or those who use the area in the office. These plants are natural uppers.
A lot of us think that plants can only survive on soil and with regular exposure to sunlight. Yes, this is generally accurate, but these days, there is a new way to grow plants inside the house even in the absence of soil and light. The conventional way of growing plants is through the use of soil - but that is something really old-fashioned now. Hydro culture is the new thing and one, which is becoming the preference of many people who like to grow house plants. People like it because there's less mess and maintenance is minimal.
Now that we all have that new option in mind, the next step is to learn how to take care of these indoor plants so that they will bloom beautifully and not grow dull. There are several factors to consider when taking care of these types of plants. These factors could affect their growth: amount of sunlight temperature in the room, temperature of the plant, humidity of the area, and duration of exposure to sunlight.
In selecting a place for the house plant, make sure that you carefully pick that area where it can receive ample amount of sunlight. So, this depends on the location of the room, and the location of the plant in that room. If there is anything like a cabinet that blocks the sunlight, the plant will grow dull and ugly since it doesn't get enough light.
There are strategic places to put the house plants in. Here are some:
* Bright - Choose that room in the house where there is mostly bright natural light. There should be a nice window where light comes from. The places are usually in the southern or western part of the house. This is the best place for any plant because there will ample supply of sunlight throughout the day. Be careful not to cover plants with cabinets or cupboards.
* Indirect light - Usually comes from a window that faces east or the interior of a room that faces south or west.
* Low light - This is in areas that are usually in rooms that face the north. A lot of the rooms in the house are generally low lit. Shadows from big furniture or trees will create a room with low lighting. The house plants that will be placed in such areas will experience slow growth. A good remedy for the plant is to use artificial lighting like lamps.
